Product Description

The Butyl Hot Melt Sealant for Automotive Sealing is a premium-grade, high-performance adhesive specifically engineered for the sealing demands of modern automotive manufacturing. Formulated with refined butyl rubber and advanced additives, this non-curing thermoplastic sealant delivers exceptional flexibility, vibration resistance, and permanent tackiness, making it ideal for a wide range of automotive sealing applications.

Designed to bond securely to various substrates used in vehicle assembly—such as metal, plastic, rubber, and painted surfaces—this sealant forms airtight and watertight seals that withstand thermal expansion, mechanical stress, and environmental exposure. Its smooth flow and excellent wetting properties allow for easy application on complex contours and joints, whether manually or via automated dispensing equipment.

It is commonly used for sealing door panels, headlamps, trunk compartments, HVAC ducts, and acoustic or vibration-damping zones. This butyl hot melt product supports both OEM and aftermarket applications, enabling consistent, clean, and efficient sealing across diverse vehicle components.

Key Features

Strong Adhesion to Automotive Materials: Bonds well with metals, plastics, EPDM, glass, and coated surfaces.

Non-Curing & Flexible: Remains permanently tacky and pliable, ideal for parts subject to vibration or movement.

Excellent Vibration and Noise Resistance: Dampens mechanical vibration and reduces noise transmission inside vehicle cabins.

Thermal Stability: Performs reliably in high and low temperatures ranging from –40°C to 100°C.

Weather & Chemical Resistant: Resists water, UV, salt spray, and automotive fluids (e.g., oil, antifreeze).

Precision Application: Smooth, string-free flow ensures consistent bead application with no clogging or mess.

Solvent-Free & Low VOC: Safe for indoor manufacturing environments and complies with environmental standards.

Vibration Dampening Pads: Applied in interior panels and engine bay components to absorb vibration and reduce rattle.

Aftermarket Repairs & Assembly: Ideal for vehicle maintenance, body repair shops, and replacement of OE seals.

Application Instructions

Surface Preparation: Clean all substrates to remove oil, dust, or old adhesive. Ensure the surface is dry and smooth.

Heating: Heat the sealant to 150–190°C in a hot melt gun or tank system.

Dispensing: Apply as a continuous, uniform bead on the surface. Adjust bead width and thickness as needed.

Bonding: Join parts while the sealant is still warm. Apply light pressure to ensure a proper seal.

Reworkability: The non-curing nature allows repositioning or resealing if needed.

Storage & Handling

Store at 5–30°C in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Avoid direct sunlight and high heat during storage.

Use protective gloves and tools when handling molten material.

Dispose of unused material according to local environmental regulations.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is this sealant suitable for high-vibration automotive parts?

A: Yes. Its flexible, non-curing properties and excellent adhesion make it ideal for parts exposed to constant vibration and movement.

Q2: Can this sealant resist exposure to oil, salt spray, and engine heat?

A: Absolutely. It is formulated to withstand common automotive chemicals, road salts, and temperature fluctuations.

Q3: Will it harden or shrink over time?

A: No. It remains permanently tacky and flexible, with no shrinkage, cracking, or drying out over time.

Q4: Is it safe for use near electrical components?

A: Yes. It is non-conductive and safe for use around wiring harnesses, sensors, and control modules.

Q5: Can it be applied by machine in a factory setting?

A: Yes. The sealant has excellent flow stability and is compatible with manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated hot melt dispensers.

Q6: Does it leave residue if removed later?

A: It may leave a thin tacky film, which can be easily cleaned with an appropriate solvent or cleaner.

Q7: How long does it take to set after application?

A: It sets quickly as it cools but remains reworkable. No curing or drying time is required.
